Multiple methods are employed to test substance hardness. Relative values from a variety of tests are compared to conclude ‘hardness’.

These values are achieved using rebound techniques, ultrasonic contact impedance (UCI), and frequency testing of resonating rod with Vickers diamond tip. Hardness testers employed include bench-top Brinell and Rockwell testers.

Hardness standards are set as per customer definitions.
