Testing Safety Relief Valve

RSE lab uses a pressure test unit that has been designed for pressure testing up to 10,000 psi.
One air-driven pump is provided along with a volume pump for rapid filling and a high-pressure pump. A computerized recorder allows the pressure test to be recorded.
Every manufactured Relief Valve has a set pressure engraved on its body.
A set pressure needs to verify to ensure that the valve will perform its function when needed. As a part of preventive maintenance to maintain proper working conditions.
The closed position of PSV disc which is not activated for a long period has the tendency to stick (stuck-up). This affects the set pressure.
Thus, the periodic test of the valve is a good way to exercise the valve and its effectiveness.
